David Hailey joined the firm as a partner in 1990, after working with another Atlanta law firm for seven years. Mr. Hailey brought a wide range of general business, banking, and civil litigation experience to our Atlanta law firm. Mr. Hailey has considerable experience in matters related to Financial Institution Bonds and Commercial Crime insurance policies, representing carriers who write such policies in courts throughout the United States. Mr. Hailey has been a speaker at the annual meeting of the American Bar Association’s Fidelity & Surety Law Committee and the annual meeting of the Fidelity Law Association and has authored multiple articles on issues related to crime insurance coverage. Because of his experience in this area, Mr. Hailey is often asked to advise companies on issues related to employee theft and crime insurance coverage.
Mr. Hailey also has experience with surety claims, Directors & Officers insurance coverage, and Errors & Omissions insurance coverage.
Mr. Hailey also represents a number of companies, including several non-profit entities, as their general business counsel, working with them in a wide range of matters including corporate governance, employment issues, contract negotiation, risk management, and civil litigation.
Mr. Hailey was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on May 20, 1953. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1965 and attended undergraduate school and law school in Georgia. Mr. Hailey worked in various management positions at a large regional bank in Atlanta for several years before attending law school. During law school, Mr. Hailey was on the Editorial Board, 1980-1981, and the Managing Board, 1981-1982, for the Georgia Law Review. While in law school his Article was selected for publication in the Georgia Law Review.
Mr. Hailey is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta and American Bar Associations, having been actively involved in the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee of the ABA since 1983. Mr. Hailey is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Inc., and the Southern Loss Association. Mr. Hailey is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and The United States Supreme Court.
